Anybody heard from NYU, McGill or Caltech?

Hi,

I have applied to these 3 schools and have no news yet. The peculiar is that I see no published results in the results section for NYU and McGill and just a couple of interview requests for Caltech. Has anybody anything to share about these 3 schools?

PS: Caltech's department is very small, so maybe this is expected

I applied to McGill and got an email two Fridays ago saying that they had received all my application materials and would be reviewing my application soon. That was the first thing I've heard from them since I submitted my app at the end of December and I haven't heard anything since that email.

Yes, they sent also to me that email (and I guess to everyone). Actually, I am referring to possible acceptances/rejections/interview requests.

First rejection from McGill is reported on the results page (dated by March, 1).

Probably we are going to get our decisions very soon. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I received an email from McGill about a month ago stating that all of my materials were missing! I emailed them several times, and got no answer. Finally, I called them, and talked to the grad secretary and was able to get her confirmation that all of my supporting documents have been received. As I have seen myself, and heard from some people, their admission process is messy, and I don't think there is something like an admission committee. I asked the grad secretary about the approximate decision dates, she told me that it depends on whether my selected professors had time to review my file or not! I don't think they make any decisions in March.

Yes, this faculty (CS at McGIll) leaves super unpleasant impression. They are so slow. My reference letters were sent in early December - it took more than 2 months utill they were processed by the faculty..

And professors are no more nice. Before applying, I sent emails to 4 or 5 professors asking regarding their current research and if they have available positions for PhD student. I got only one response, which was not very kind and not informative at all.

Anyone heard back from McGill CS? (Other than the "Document Received" mail)??

NYU typically sends results from the first of April onwards, i think those accepted for fellowship are informed earlier however. I don't have any idea abt McGill. Also Caltech has has many accepts/interviews already so I don't have high hopes there.

My status in Minerva has changed to "Ready For Review" since a few weeks ago! It seems that they have finally decided to review the applications! I really don't expect any news from them this month.

I've just saw new results (acceptances) from McGill posted on results board.

Did this faculty adcomm finally wake up?

Yes, there have been a couple of Masters decisions in the last two days. It seems that they have finally woken up! But I don't think that they will be able to finalize all the applications even by the end of April.
