KhadarBasha Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 (edited) Hello all, I received an offer from a top consulting firm. I cannot stand my current company and I am very interested in that offer. The problem is that I start my MBA soon and that only gives me 2 months to work under that consulting firm.. Should I: a ) Take the offer, keeping my future plans to myself and then quit after two months (would I be burning bridges? Would they be disdained that I have not revealed I am planning to leave for an MBA?). It is really nice to have that company name on my resume. b ) Come clean and tell that potential company that although I am excited about the offer but I will eventually leave for an MBA. I can mention I am still interested in internship opportunities or a full time job post-MBA. Thanks, Khadar Basha Edited March 8, 2011 by KhadarBasha
LongGraduatedStudent Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 B seems logical. I mean they already like you (otherwise they wouldn't have given you an offer). They would probably like you even more with an MBA.

You would definitely be burning bridges. It's incredibly expensive to hire someone and if they bring someone in that leaves after two months because of a planned MBA, it makes you look dishonest and you can be sure that it will hurt your reputation at the firm and they could tell others. Did you apply for the job before you knew you were getting an MBA?
