LAMP Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 (edited) I got a message from JHU professor (NLP) about 15 days ago who expressed his desire to set up an interview with me. We scheduled the interview, it lasted a little over an hour, and it came along just fine (not very impressive as I struggled to answer a few very technical questions). Later the professor wrote me an email thanking me for the interview and told me that a decision would be sent to me in about two weeks. I'ts about to get two weeks and I haven't heard back anything so far. I am just curious to know about odds of my acceptance now that I have been interviewed. How long does it take to hear back ? BKMD Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I'm at JHU and while I'm not directly involved with admissions, I can tell you a few things I know. 1) if you were interviewed it means you are on the short list, though I'm not exactly sure what % of those are made offers. 2) I think the professor was wrong to tell you two weeks because I know that they only started the final decision process this week and actually they have not completed all of their interviews. It will be a while longer before they have made a decision. Last year, I was not notified until the 3rd week of March (informally over the phone; I did not get an official letter until the last week of March). I also know that they do wait-listing, so if you end up on the waitlist, you might not be notified until even later. Their decisions go out much later than other schools, which is frustrating, but don't be concerned that you haven't heard back. LAMP 1
adinutzyc Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 But... if I wasn't called for an interview, I am most likely rejected, right?
BKMD Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Not necessarily. The NLP group has their own interview and decision making process. I honestly don't know if the other research areas do interviews.
