unintendlessly Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 I'm supposed to send in my letter of intent to Wisconsin by Thursday, and I have no clue whether or not I'm going to go there yet! I've already sent it in to UMD, but that was because it was due a few weeks ago, and I hadn't received my letter from Wisconsin yet. Is it okay to send it in to both schools? My dilemma: I applied for the three programs just right before deadline (I took the GREs a bit late, and had missed most of the other deadlines - bad timing and planning on my part), and hadn't banked on being accepted to all of them. But I was, and now I'm in a huge dilemma. I can't seem to decide between the MPP program at UMD-College Park, and the MPP and MIPA programs at the La Follette School of Pub Policy at UW-Madison. In the future, I would like to definitely work for either an NGO or in the government, esp. in environmental policy. Right now, I'm leaning towards UMD, because of its location, and because the program is geared towards those in their "early careers." But other times, I think Wisconsin may be better. But then again, many of the graduates from La Follette end up working in the state government, and if I do go to Wisconsin, I don't plan on staying there forever (forever may be the wrong word to use). UMD, while crime-ridden I hear, is a 10-20 min ride from DC - and that's where I hope to obtain an internship while in the program. What do you think about the two schools and their respective programs? I would LOVE some help/advice/comments!
