garuna Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Hello people, Would anybody like to help me out with his/her opinions on this topic? Any comments/suggestions on which of the 2 schools is stronger in the field of computer architecture/vlsi would be most welcome! FYI, I have been admitted to the MS program in both these schools and will be looking at the prospects of a job after completion, rather than pursuing a Phd (that's the plan, at least ) Thanks!
Mahaveer Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Hi, UCLA is far better than UCSB, did you get funding ? Best of luck -Mj Hello people, Would anybody like to help me out with his/her opinions on this topic? garuna Posted March 19, 2011 Author Posted March 19, 2011 Oh is there a huge gap in perception of quality? I thought they were pretty much comparable... And nope, no mention of funding yet. Hi, UCLA is far better than UCSB, did you get funding ? Best of luck -Mj
Mahaveer Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Not that much, but ranking wise UCLA is better and UCLA also has better research in VLSI. UC normally send funding status after admission offer so best of luck. -Mj Oh is there a huge gap in perception of quality? I thought they were pretty much comparable... garuna Posted March 20, 2011 Author Posted March 20, 2011 Thanks! And oh, got a Texas A&M admit this morning. Now I'm not really sure what to do, 'cause A&M has a big advantage as far as costs are concerned. Any opinions? Mahaveer Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Texas A&M is also good university, but you should consider research in VLSI rather than costs, if you are getting schol. -Mj Thanks!
