Brad Miller Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 So I got admitted to their program about a month ago, but it didnt mention about financial assistance, and attended their open house a few weeks ago. But just found out today that they WON'T offer me any financial assistance! Has this happened to anyone else? I got the impression from the other students that all the admits would be given some sort of funding

In the US it is not very common for schools to fund masters programs in math, but expecting a student to pay their way for a PhD is almost unheard of.

Xero735 Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 I got a number of admits that were not funded. It pretty much means they are ok with having you at their school but don't really want you. I would suggest going someplace else.

I know that a few Applied Math programs tend to do this, but i didn't think az was one of them based on what i saw at their open house and the results I've seen of admits here on Gradcafe
