jaya11 Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 I applied to the Gallatin School of Individualized Study for the fall 2011 semester and have a couple of questions that aren't addressed on the school's website. First, I'm wondering if anyone has any idea when notifications are made. I submitted my application on the priority deadline (January 18). I also can't find any reliable or current information on the program's acceptance rate. Advice on where to look or actual answers would be very appreciated. Thanks! P.S. I did e-mail the program about when to expect a decision and received a vague and entirely unhelpful response...My application is under review, etc. I'm dying here!
horsegal148 Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Hey there, I applied for Gallatin for an MA starting fall 2011, and I also applied by the priority deadline. When I applied, they said 6-8 weeks, but it's clearly already been longer than that. It's nice to know someone else hasn't heard. I was getting worried. Good luck, and please post if you hear back!
jaya11 Posted March 24, 2011 Author Posted March 24, 2011 Hi, It's a relief to hear from someone in a similar position. It's been difficult to connect with fellow Gallatin applicants. To be honest, I'm still a bit worried. On their website it says they're still accepting applications. I'm trying not to read too much into that. Where else did you apply and what are you interested in studying? My fingers are crossed for both of us! Keep me posted too, if you don't mind.
horsegal148 Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I wouldn't be too worried. Even if you don't get in you would still get a letter, so no letter is better than a rejection letter. And they will probably accept applicants through April. Most schools will allow for late acceptance. Those people just don't get priority funding or anything. I only applied to Gallatin for now. I want to combine media, marketing and business to create a master's degree in online content management. Most programs that exist are "Media Management" but leave out the marketing, or are marketing and leave out the management and leadership classes. And none of them offer classes in media production. So this is really the only way for me to go. If I don't get in, I'll probably apply to the New School for Media Studies. I work full time so I have to stay somewhere here in NYC. What about you?
