RebaK
Thanks! I guess that's why the Past acceptance dates that were mentioned on here vary so much. My fingers are crossed but I'm losing hope- didn't get an interview either Did you guys have high averages?
Sagan
I had something between high 70s and low 80s. But, I had loads of experience, including some volunteer experience teaching abroad. So, that might have helped. If, unfortunately, you don't get in this year, don't lose heart! Just take it as an opportunity to find more teaching experiences in Canada or abroad and beef up your resume! Still this isn't something to consider yet. You haven't been accepted, but you haven't been rejected either. So hope for the best, and prepare for the worst. Good luck and don't lose hope! I applied to CSE (and MT), and I have yet to hear ANYTHING. No emails, phone calls, no interview. You're not alone! Fingers crossed for us both! RebaK
No interview or calls etc! Either a big at rejection or maybe admission in another round?! Who knows. It's still "early".

Hmm that's strange. I know there's a meeting for the newly admitted grad students for the Child Study program so I would think that's been decided. BUT applications for MT are still open and I believe interviews are still on-going so you still have a chance for that at least. And official letters for Child Study aren't coming out until next week or the following so spots could open up! Fingers crossed for you

MisiaMagda
do you have any other options in case you don't get in? I applied to three BEd programs (Toronto, Brock, York), but the results aren't released until April 1st/2nd. I'd obviously rather have a Master's, though! Sagan
Got my official acceptance letter in the mail. I guess, everyone should receive theirs soon enough. I do live in Toronto, so maybe that's why I got it early? Good luck!

MAMT
Hey, I have received the Official Letter of Admission on the 19th of March, they are dated to approximately the 14 of March and therefore have three weeks to respond (from the date posted on the letters). I will be accepting. Congratulations and goodluck everyone!
peachxxo
Got my acceptance letter in the mail today too for both MT and CSE! Would anyone mind shedding some light on the differences between the two programs? I thought I knew but now I'm a little confused.
MisiaMagda
Wow, Congrats everyone! Are all of you guys accepting? For those of you who got accepted to both CSE and MT, which will you choose? When is the deadline? I unfortunately have still heard nothing. Guess OISE isn't in the cards for me!

Yes, you are in classes but you focus more on the child and their development. There is opportunity for research if you chose to do your own. MT - More focus on being a Teacher. More focus on the curriculum and other aspects of Education. From my understanding, you can do your own research but it cannot count towards a thesis. Sagan
Hey MAMT, I asked folks at MT, and they said that if you wanna continue with doctoral studies then you need to do a more extensive research project. Also with CSE you gotta do a QRP (Quality Research Paper), which counts at OISE and some other universities (Canadian/American) but many universities do require an actual thesis for their doctoral programs, so you might not be eligible to apply there with the QRP. So that might limit us a bit. Still deciding which one to choose; it's kind of a doozy! Guess, it'll boil down to what age group we wanna teach!? Or if we wanna pursue research as a career option =) Kinda leaning towards MA atm, though! Edited March 24, 2014 by Sagan
RebaK
Did they mention anything at the meeting about further acceptances? Are you guys first round or something, because I know for other programs they will sometimes wait to see how many spots are accepted after the first round of admissions. Wishful thinking that I could still have a chance!

Wishful thinking that I could still have a chance! looking at the past numbers of admissions and acceptances they give a out a certain amount and whatever they get back as acceptances that's their number ... so for example i think they gave out 62ish spots last year but only 50 accepted so that's how many were in the program - but don't quote me on this ... it's just from speculation and Sagan i'm leaning the same way! i like applied psych, esp when working with kids so i feel that would be the best one for me Edited March 25, 2014 by peachxxo

Both sound AMAZING! Hm, I did have solid letters of reference, experiences, and intent.. or so I thought! I do have crazy amounts of volunteering/experience, amazing reference letters, and I thought a good statement. I was most concerned about my marks, to be honest. I think that is what is what holding me back. Sucks because this year (last year of undergrad) I am doing very well, but they don't get to see those marks. I sent the updated transcript from last term (Fall 2013), but that only had 3 final marks on it, as 2 of my courses are full-year. I wish I could send my final transcript in May and be like "But wait! Check this out!"

When I was in the process of deciding whether to apply in my 4th year, the person I was communicating with at OISE said I could apply again the following year or just wait until the following year and apply (which is what I did - I'm in my 5th year) and use my grades from 4th year instead of 3rd year. So there's no harm in applying again next year. There's always hope! Edited March 26, 2014 by peachxxo

autismclinic
Hey everyone! I don't know if I have been accepted to my program yet, but I am from the Niagara Region and I would definitely be interested in rooming with fellow individuals who have an interest in child education research. MAMT
Hey guys, Quick question or well at least I want to make sure ... regardless lol I am currently finishing my undergrad and I know that tomorrow is the first day to register for courses. Therefore, those students who are interested in the program and are finishing up their undergrad have received Conditional Acceptances. However, I know someone in the meeting had asked about undergrads and when we could apply. The answer was given was that we could only apply in (approximately) June, after we have proved that we finished with a certain average and well.. that we graduated lol. Could you guys please confirm this to prove to myself that I wasn't hearing things. I will try and confirm tomorrow with the liaison just so my mind is at least in peace. Thank you! You've got it right! so we have to wait until our degree has been conferred and then we send our transcripts back to OISE with the transcripts that say yes we graduated and yes we maintained a mid B I still have to go to my registrar's office and see if there's a way I can pre-date the paperwork so that once the degree gets conferred it automatically gets sent in so it's less for me to worry about! I've also been trying to call the office/Vanessa for the past couple of days with some questions but I've been getting the voicemail. Should you decide to call, would you mind letting me know if you get through?
