LSU poli sci (theory)

anybody thinking of declining LSU? I'm on the waitlist for funding and its driving me bonkers!

I received an acceptance letter last week, but no word on funding. How did you find out that you were on the waitlist?

I wrangled it out of Prof. Bratton.

looks like the money situation at LSU is somewhere between serious and dire..

Ah, great. I kind of figured as much, though. I'll post when I hear something about funding.

You might be wondering about visiting time, like I was: LSU doesn't have a designated weekend or day or whatever for visiting students. If you can find your way down to Baton Rouge, they'll accommodate you as best they can.

As for the money business, the department still has no idea how much money the graduate school is giving them. it also sounds like very few admits have given them straight answers one way or the other, i.e. they don't know who's getting what-

I turned down the offer from LSU this weekend. Hopefully that will free up what little funds they have.

From what i heard assistantships were limited didnt get any funding as of yet was told by april 15 will know for sure but there are university wide fellowships you could qualify for....the tuition is much cheaper since its a state school. but my level of frustration with them is very high. Did the graduate school ever contact you? Im still gonna go though as its my only good option and next year isnt guaranteed to be any better

yeah, the department is frustrating, you got that right. Two days before the deadline and none of us know what kind of funding we're getting, if any!

All I know is the DGS gave poli sci two new fellowships, so money is tight.

this is stressful-

AthenianStranger, where are you going to be in the fall?

Very frustrating. The department will have to decide *something* soon, even if they don't have the kind of money they hoped for.

here's what I got: two assistantships, one is spoken for. the other one either goes to the mofo ahead of me on the waitlist or to me. I don't think I got it because the other d00d seemed pretty committed to LSU-

How many students do they admit a year? Hey i might be that mofo...lol well at least i hope so. So far i have nothing but like you im waitlisted for assistanship and applied to one for their university wide fellowships. I checked out their fin aid site. Are you definitely going?
