snlslp Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Hi All! I am new to this forum and am SO happy I found it. Everything on here is so helpful. I have a couple of questions for everyone. First, is anyone else planning on attending the Rush accepted students day? I am going to that on April 1st then flying to Boston to attend MGH on April 2. Does anyone have any insight on the differences advantages/disadvantages of these two programs? On a different note, I also got accepted to Kean university in NJ. I know NOTHING about this program and am unable ot find much info on it. Can anyone provide me any insight on this program? It is close to home for me so something I want to consider along with the other two. Congrats to everyone and good luck to those still waiting to hear! Stephanie snlslp and gretel 1 1

Stephanie Rush and MGH seem like very similar programs to me since both are based in a hospital. I didn't apply to MGH, but I did get into Rush, and I've been talking with some current students over email. They told me that you have 6 different clinical practicum sites, which is considerably more than most schools (not sure how MGH compares though). I'm a little bias towards Chicago because I'm from there. One thing Rush and Chicago have going for them is they are much cheaper than Boston. Rush's program is also very small at only 20-25 students. One downside to Rush is the curriculum is pretty set. Current students told me there really isn't room for electives. Both programs are top notch, and I think it just comes down to money and where you want to live.
FutureSLP Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 There is a lot of MGH information being posted in the SLP/Comm-Dis Masters Applicants thread right now. I'm sure you're checking it out, but thought I'd mention it just in case!
