indecisive2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Hopefully I'm not being too repetitive with other posts, but I'm trying to make a tough decision on where to go for my PhD in epidemiology. I've been accepted to Harvard, UNC, and Emory. Here's how it breaks down: Harvard: 1/2 tuition, living stipend; best advisor fit for my research interests (tenured but newer to the field so may have fewer connections), lots of other great research opportunities in my area of interest going on there - seems like the best research match of the 3 options for me, no TA requirement, Boston has highest cost of living of the threeUNC: possibility for almost full funding but not a sure thing (can probably do a RA/TA position and get funding otherwise); advisor has been around longer and has lots of connections but research interests are not as closely matched, Chapel Hill seems pretty cool and lower cost of living [*]Emory: Full 4 year funding, opportunity to do research at CDC, lower cost of living than Boston, interesting research but no specific advisor yet (opportunity to work with several people), requires 2 TA stints in 1st two years (and RA as well, which I'm okay with) Any public health people out there? Anyone attending/planning to attend any of these schools and have any thoughts? Thanks!!!!
indecisive2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Author Posted April 2, 2011 Okay, taking Emory off the list. Any thoughts now on Harvard vs UNC Public health?
