For biophysics, UIUC has Center for Physics of Living Cells (CPLC) and UCLA has California Nanosystems Institute (CNSI). But I am not sure whether CNSI can improve UCLA's biophysics? I also wish someone here can answer this question. Any suggestions? I am so entangled in these two...

For biophysics, without a doubt, UIUC >> UCLA For the weather, UCLA >> UIUC The number of Nobel laureates doesn't have anything to do with the quality of the graduate program. However UIUC is still way better than UCLA in terms of biophysics because of the high concentration of good biophysics groups there. I just simply can't name any hotshot groups in biophysics at UCLA. BTW if you look at CNSI's webpage... it doesn't seem like they have much to do with biophysics. Also don't get deluded by the extra money from UCLA... 30K in Urbana is probably worth about the same with 42K in LA. Edited April 3, 2011 by tradster ZEROLAN 1
snooze Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 I'm going to say UIUC, for the reasons stated above. Also, that was my undergrad institution and it has a lot of great things going on. But mostly, I just wanted to clarify... you'd be getting paid $30,000 for the year...? If this is true, congrats! Know that I am very jealous, and as a humanities person, I'm considered "lucky" to be getting $13,500 for the year. ZEROLAN 1
