Lymrance Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 So, who else is waiting for a college decision from Oxford? Will funding from a college make or break your decision to attend the university? Did you put down a college preference? I went with no-preference as the entire thing was a gamble for me and I wasn't going to make a fuss about which college they decided I fit with. I've scoped out the colleges info page on Oxford's site to get a rough idea of how funding could vary depending on which college I get into. It seems like it could potentially vary quite a lot -- $2,000 pounds versus full room and board for the term of your degree in some cases. If this thread is redundant or if there is another site from which to monitor the college situation, please feel free to redirect me. I will say that when I emailed my department last week to ask what the approximate time-frame might be, the department secretary responded that it could be the end of May or even later. Obviously, this was not exactly encouraging. But I am trying to be patient.
ndlozo2 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 I'm also waiting for a college decision! Good to know I'm not the only one, and that the fact that I haven't heard yet is not uncommon!
PetitJacques Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Me, too! And I did the same "no-preference" thing for exactly the same reason. The funding won't make or break it for me (though would be very helpful!!), but I'm anxious to start working on things like housing and visas, especially as I'll be coming with a spouse looking for work. I hope it's not the end of May!
Sh_India Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Hi, I am also waiting for college decision from Oxford. Funding is certainly an important factor for me. Which programme did you get admitted to? I got an offer from DPhil in International Development. Did you hear anything from Oxford about university funding/scholarship details yet?
Kleene Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 (edited) I got my college offer for Balliol twelve days ago (almost three weeks after being offered a place on my course). It was in fact my prefered college. As far as I understand, most university wide funding (Ertegun, Clarendon, etc.) has gone out completely already. If you have not heard by now, you are unlikely to receive any this year. I am hoping for college funding or HEFCE funding, but funding will not be a dealbreaker. HEFCE funding wil be released in June, college funding obviously depends on your college. Best of luck to all of you! Edited April 22, 2014 by Kleene
Sh_India Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Hey Kleene, I have got an email about funding from the University and was asked to send another Statement of Purpose for the same. The results will be declared by Mid-May. Great to know that funding won't be a dealbreaker for you. Congratulations on Balliol. I am hoping to get my college offer soon. All the best.
