Weepsie Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 I've been accepted to January 2012 intake of the MMLis at UBC and short listed for September. This was a bit of a relief as coming from europe Ill need a bit more money than I'd have by September. However I have been told that all grad students are automatically put forward for consideration for the various Schholarships and grants at UBC. I want to know has anyone ever been awarded one, or when they inform succesful applicatns? I'll possibly be a mere $5000 short of what Id need to get me through the year (Have rent and fees covered but its the extra things) so one of these awards would have me over without hesitation. Otherwise it's Europe in a course I don't really like, in a Uni I've graduated from before with an MA and didn't much like (except for one Dept where Im considering a PhD after the MLIS). I've had no problem finding info on funding for Irish students in the US but lnot so much for Canada, I wouldve applied to some there but the costs are astronomical without some of the really good awards.

Just to make sure, you mean the University of British Columbia when you say UBC right? If so, then just message me your questions as I am a current UBC graduate student (sociology).
