jnfrk Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Hey, I'm wondering if anyone out there has deferred and can comment on what sort of funding you eventually received. If you defer you often forfeit the initial funding offer and are reconsidered the following year. I know that the deferral itself won't affect how you're assessed the second year, but I still worry about committing to a program without an idea of the funding that will be on offer. Moreover, what incentive does the program have to throw money at you if you're already locked-in? I know one option is to do a second round of apps after you've deferred, but frankly I was happy with my results this year and don't relish the idea of doing it all over again! Thoughts welcome... and thanks.
pshrichand Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 I deferred at Georgetown (MSFS) last year, with a 50% scholarship. I was offered the same level of funding again this year, so in my case it worked out well.
myacu Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Woudl you mind sharing yoru reason for deferral? I would like to defer but it was my understanding that MSFS rarely ever grants deferrals. Then again, with a 50% scholarship, they were probably willing to do anything so as to now lose you to another school
