nhs0001 Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 Hi All, I have been accepted at both Stony Brook University and GSBS of UTHSC Houston. Both schools provide almost equal opportunity to work in cancer research, because first one allows to work with Cold Spring Harbor Lab and second one allows to work with MD Anderson Cancer Center. The faculties with whom I like to work has similar and excellent research provides equal opportunity. So I am confused to choose between them. So I would highly appreciate the suggestion from fellow mates of Grad Cafe Forum. Thanks in advance for all your help. Nitin

Consider the location, I would select UTHSC. Could you tell me when you received the offer of UTHSC Houston, because I am waiting for its last decision. Is it offer with financial aid? Thanks
Genomic Repairman Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Did you compare cost of living versus stipends? Quality of life between the two places (living in the boonies of Long Island vs maybe getting mugged in Houston)? Equipment/lab spaces of potential labs? Neighboring institutions that you can collaborate with easily? Why the hell are you asking us? This is your decision that will determine at least the next 5 years of your life, are you sure you want anyone swaying your decision?
