Hello fellow anxious prospective grads,

Im new and happened to stumble upon the msg board during my ferocious google search on grad programs. I intend to pursue a degree in mental health counseling. The dilemma lies between CUNY Brooklyn College and Fordham University.

It's a scenario thats discussed quite often- prestigious expensive program vs. an inexpensive no name ( yet considered pretty good overall) program..Fordham was my top pick but now that I have to secure my decision, my fear of loans is outweighing my fear of existing in cuny bureaucratic hell. Is anyone else facing the same decision? Is it worth taking out the 40,000 in loans for the new experience ( i already have a degree from brooklyn college) or is the trajectory of the degree the same all around? blah..so sick of thinking about it about..

Ack, a really touch decision! So will you be in greater debt if you go to Fordham? I cannot speak to your field directly, but I was talking about loans vs. experience with some Columbia-bound friends last night... loans are a huge burden. But if going to a specific school will put you firmly on the path you wish to be on, the loans will be 'worth it.' Where can you picture yourself in a year?
