mistborn Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 hey, it's going to take me an extra semester to graduate college (in engineering), so while i'm finishing up my degree requirements, should i take a graduate-level class in engineering at my university and then transfer it to my graduate institution? and also, does doing well in a graduate-level class in my field help my case especially if my undergraduate GPA is kinda on the low side (3.0<GPA<3.5) and there is a blemish (yup, the F bomb) on my transcript?
cogneuroforfun Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Take graduate level classes to show you are prepared for them and can do well in them, not with the hopes of the credit transferring. You will very likely be unable to transfer the credits, but taking these courses and doing well in them is one more big indicator that you are qualified for grad school.
kala tim Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 (edited) if you do take a grad class, make sure you get an A in it otherwise it will look bad Edited April 20, 2011 by kala tim
mistborn Posted April 20, 2011 Author Posted April 20, 2011 thanks for the replies guys. it confirms what i was thinking. and yes, since i only have one course to complete for my graduation in the fall, i can spend a lot of time and do well in the grad class. i also took the undergrad version of the class and did very well in it.
