tsrinivasan Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 I'm a first graduate student in mathematics, and have recently become interested in the philosophy of mathematics. I wanted to check if I could apply for a PhD or M.Phil. in this. I understand that admission to philosophy programs is very competitive, and it doesn't help that I have absolutely no formal training in philosophy. I've looked at some university websites, and Notre Dame has a joint PhD program in philosophy and mathematics that seems attractive. Does anyone know of similar programs, where my background in mathematics will make up for not having studied philosophy? It would also really help if someone could tell me my chances of admission. I'm at an average school with a GPA of 3.89, and a GRE score of 1490 (770Q, 720V). I should point out that I am an international student, so even though it makes more sense to apply to an M.A. program, I can't afford to join a program that does not offer funding. Thanks!
