MrGradStudent Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I just got the rejection e-mail. I'm waiting for it.
skinkididoo Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I just got the rejection e-mail. aw, that sucks is it alphabetical? what letter does your last name start with? (i'm T, so I could have a while to wait...)
buttsssssss Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 okay then buttsssssss is saying goodbye, so long and thanks for all the fish
DrBones Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Well, perhaps, like the awards, the e-mails are being sent out in "installments based on discipline". So... we all just have to wait it out still unless we're on the list or have an e-mail. Which is not me... *sigh* Nevermind, just got the "We regret to inform you that you were not selected to receive a fellowship in this year's competition." Congrats to the winners and to the rest of us... *big hug*
Neuronerd Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Not that I know any of you, nor do you know me, but I am truly sorry. You all seem so bright and optimistic. I feel positively misanthropic compared to most of the people on this board. I wish you all had won.
margot Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I just got the rejection e-mail. Does it also show the notification on your fastlane when you log in?
johnp158 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 well shit I was gonna go to bed with some sense of closure but now I have a feeling I'll be up a little while waiting on a rejection email
i_lost Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 i just got a rejection email. my name starts with b, and I am very very sad, especially about having to disappoint my advisor oh well, I'll try again next year. Congrats to the winners, and good luck for everyone still in limbo! and if this comes up 3 times, it's bc I'm very bad at forums

kdilks Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Well, I figured I was probably going to get an Honorable Mention, so looks like I'll have to wait a while longer for closure. It's like the MIT waiting list all over again.
MrGradStudent Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 so i guess the email address from the earlier poster was correct.
skinkididoo Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Wow, at this rate we can easily reach 2000 posts before this whole process is over...
johnp158 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I hate to engage in more of this hand-waving speculation, but does it sound to you guys like not getting a rejection email in this first batch means at least honorable mention? The wording on fastlane sort of makes it sound like that.
sam45 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 time to get plastered. who's with me? Already there 8)
Neuronerd Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 i dont drink though i'll eat some ice cream with you
pi1ehf Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 How do they know people's graduate institutions, for those who are currently undergraduates?
johnp158 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 More limbo! Good God, NSF!!! It's obviously out of their hands at this point. Would you rather they just cut it off right now with no more awards?
kdilks Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 More limbo! Good God, NSF!!! Having maybe 10% of people in limbo is better than having 100% of people in limbo. On the application, you list your desired graduate school. That's not necessarily where they're going.
