nellecv Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Hi, I was wondering if anyone out there has done the MA program in English at UMass Boston, Salem State, or Bridgewater State. I'd love to get any kind of feedback on professors, classes, over-all impressions of the departments, etc. My family situation and dismal undergrad grades (from 9 years ago) are limiting my options right now, and I'm feeling pretty worried about these choices.
rainy_day Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 I didn't go to UMass Boston, but a good friend of mine did, and she really loved the experience! It's affordable, the faculty are great and really encouraging and challenging, and they offer TA-ships which can cover tuition PLUS provide a stipend. And they really wanted to help her work towards a PhD, so there is support for that, too, if it's your ultimate goal. Good luck!
user_name Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 I've been looking into U Mass too because of my not-so-good undergrad, but their MA->PhD program. Originally it was going to be a safety until I started objectively evaluating what I had to offer; now, it's looking more like a fit.
