Krista719 Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Hi! I am looking for some opinions regarding my chances of getting into Hunter College's School of Social Work for my MSW. I have been working as an eligibility consultant for a state agency for individuals with disabilities since September 2007. I really love the field and am interested in pursuing an education in social work. The only problem is my scattered undergrad history. My undergrad was at a CUNY school from 2000-2006 (taking 1 year off in the middle to work). I graduated in 2006 with a double Communications major Media Studies and Publication Design. My overall GPA was a 2.9. I think that the GPA in my major was a 3.4. I know that my low GPA and non-social work (Communications) undergrad history doesn't fare well for me. However, I'm hoping I still have a chance of getting into a MSW program. I was thinking of taking a non-matriculated Social Policy class at Hunter in the Fall and then applying in February. Any input would be really appreciated. Also, I am interested in Hunter because of their great reputation and low cost. However, I would be so grateful if anyone could recommend other programs in the NYC area that may be appropriate for me. I've searched for info online but I am at a loss finding advice regarding cases similar to mine. Thanks!
