I hope everyone had (or is having) a good finals week.

I am taking Intro Greek I and II this summer and I'm contemplating taking them pass/fail. I have done well in language courses in the past but am awaiting the birth of my first child (due in the middle of the course) so things will be a little different. Do pass/fails look bad on a transcript? I'm applying to Biblical Studies programs next year and will have 15 hours of Hebrew and 12 of Greek (including the pass/fails), among other languages. I will do Intermediate Greek next year, but will not have it on my transcript at the time of application. Will my application be hurt by not having letter grades for the Intro courses instead of pass/fails?

Thanks in advance.

Well, I would say a B or B+ is still better than a pass/fail. Also, being able to say you got a B because you were having a baby would sound better than saying you took it pass/fail because you were having a baby. The former sounds like you tried your hardest and did the work, the latter sounds like you were expecting to be busy so you only did as little as you needed to pass. If you were expecting something in B- territory then I might start to say a pass/fail is better, but if you're doing a second year of Greek you will probably need to do better anyway.
