eco_env Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 I'm transitioning between labs this usmmer, so I don't have a lab group right now, so I'm looking for people to talk about ecology with- conversations that will help me develop a research plan for grad school. Does anyone know of a good forum for that kind of discussion? or have any other recommendations for thinking about big picture ecology? I started reading Laws, Theories, and Patterns in Ecology by Dodds and like it so far.
eco_env Posted August 4, 2011 Author Posted August 4, 2011 I guess there aren't many ecologists on gradcafe... how about ecology blogs? all the ones I've seen so far are theoretical ecology oriented: Oikos Blog, EEB and Flow, Jabberwocky Ecology. I'm looking for more field ecology oriented blogs.
InquilineKea Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Yeah, unfortunately, the ecologists all love to go outdoors, so they don't go on forums much. I've been actively looking, but the best ones (right now) are just at places like Physics Forums.
Clarrien Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 I just found this forum... I'm in ecology! And yes, I follow most of the blogs you mentioned.
Chickaree Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 (edited) I'll be starting an ecology/zoology grad program this fall. I also follow the blogs listed, but would love to have an ecology based forum as well - you know, for those times I'm not out in the field Edited March 20, 2012 by Chickaree
