Checking Status of Grant Application

I applied for a research travel grant in mid-April. The grant institution noted that I would receive a decision within 30 days. It has now been 7 weeks since they received the application, and I have heard nothing. Is it acceptable at this point to contact them to determine my application status? I don't want to annoy them, but my research trip, which would depend partially on this grant, is fast approaching.
