student2012 Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 I'm a rising senior beginning my search of graduate programs. I know that I'd like to pursue a dual-degree, but am having difficulty finding programs that suit my needs. Does anyone know of any dual-degree programs that offer a PhD in Psychology and a Masters in Public Policy? So far all I can find are Northwestern, Georgetown, and Stanford. Thanks!
Behavioral Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 (edited) Ask yourself, what does having a dual-degree enable you to do that a PhD doesn't? Trying to pidgeonhole yourself into finding a program that has a specific dual-degree program isn't going to be optimal, especially when you have only pinpointed three extremely competitive programs in psychology. Edit: And MPP/MPA programs typically require work experience to be a strong candidate. Dual-degree programs typically work on the assumption that you will be admitted to both departments/schools independent of each other before starting a joint program.
