Scheduling revised GRE general test

Hello, I am from India, looking for MS in engineering from US universities in fall 2012. I want to schedule GRE revised pattern general test. As per ETS website, if I take GRE during October 3, 2011 to October 15, 2011 I will get score by Nov 17, 2011 and during October 16, 2011 to November 18, 2011 I will get score by Dec 1, 2011. Can I start application procedure before I get written score? How admission procedures will affect if I take test in late October 2011 or in early November 2011 ? Please help me in this matter. It's best to get done with it as soon as possible. With the new format, the scores would anyway reach only in November. As far as I know, in your applications, you can mention your unofficial score which you would get right after the test. I would suggest you to write it by August. This would give you time to work on your SOPs, recommendations etc. and your scores would reach within the deadlines.
