RoboticO Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 For all the people attending the new Master's of Engineering at Berkeley...how are you paying the 42k tution?? Are you just taking out loans? I've been trying to convince the engineering faculty to provide research and teaching assistantships for M.Eng, but in the meantime I really need to find another way. Has anyone figured out anything yet?
mechengr2000 Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 I think most people who do that program are sponsored by an engineering firm. I think the best route is to get employed and have your company pay for it, since it is intended to be a professional degree. Is that your reason for pursuing it? Why do you want to pay for it yourself?

Why do you want to pay for it yourself? I do work for a company right now but they're pretty stingy and won't pay for my education, especially when it's 42K. I think most people who do that program are sponsored by an engineering firm. I don't think this statement is true. I met a lot of the people at the M.Eng orientation from all different disciplines and the majority of them had fresh Bachelor's degrees. This is not like an MBA where you need some work experience to get in.
