GingerMoneypenny Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Hello! I started my program search this month, but I'm quite confused. I have several friends also applying to graduate schools, but to doctoral programs in biology/psychology/chemistry, etc. They keep stressing the importance of matching up research interests with faculty at potential schools. Is this something I need to also stress in my own search, and is it important to contact these faculty members prior to applying? Thanks in advance!
NMRN Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Gosh, I've been wondering the same thing. I asked a faculty member at a big name east coast school and she said to look at the program listing and just glance at professors and their research interests. For what its worth, she also said that place (i.e. NYC vs. Seattle) matters significantly less than those two things. It seems odd that a professional program would put so much stock in research, but evidence base development is important. Hope that helps.
