digits2006 Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 I just finished my first year in a psychology MA program. I did not receive funding for my second year and I moved home because I did not want to take out 30k in one year. I am now looking at online MA degrees that state universities conduct, not the ones from U Phoenix or other schools like that. Has anyone had any experience with these online MA degrees? I really just want to finish my MA degree and have it on my resume. I am most likely going to work outside the psychology realm but really want the degree. Thoughts?
Mr. Tea Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 This really depends on your long term goals. I have to say that I am very skeptical that completing an online Master's in psychology is valuable unless they provide research or applied experience somehow.
digits2006 Posted August 13, 2011 Author Posted August 13, 2011 Mr. Tea, I really just want to get it because I have already finished one year of a program where I did research I may be a 3rd author on a publication with a great psychologist. There is a program at University of North Dakota who has a MA in forensic psychology. I like this program because if I kept with my studies, I would have applied to their PhD program. Additionally, they have a two week capstone project when you fly out to campus and work with professors and other students. I really just want to finish my degree without taking time off from trying to find a job.
