bowdoinstudent
So I called WashU and asked them about this email I received from the Admin. Coordinator about missing GRE scores. The department coordinator got on the phone and told me that they had made a mistake and that my scores and along with some other stuff are all in. She said, "Yeah, you're all set, you are golden...now this doesn't mean that you are accepted, but you are well on your way..." Am I overanalyzing these silly lines? I guess I just have too much free time on my hands lately. Time passes too slow, I want it to be March already! Gr. Any thoughts, people?
Tonights
I think you may be overanalyzing a bit. The fact that she said "you're not in yet" pretty much tells you what you need to know.
miratrix
I think she just means you're finished with your end of the application process, and can sit back and not do anything anymore. It doesn't actually say anything about what your chances of getting in are, except that they'd obviously be very low without GRE scores.
Boz
If I were you, I would be overanalyzing too--what suggestive language this department coordinator used! However, I agree with the others that you shouldn't get *too* excited just yet. Best of luck, though! (From another English applicant who is just as anxious to get accepted somewhere .) Tinyboss
I'd interpret that as miratrix said. I wish you luck!
linden
However... she did say you are well on your way. I wonder why she would add that if she wasn't trying to send you a coded message? In any case, it's all theories and interpretation until you have acceptance email/letter in hand. Good luck.
Tritonetelephone
I think it's best to assume that the suggestive language wasn't intentional. In that position, it's very hard to control your language so as not to get someone's hopes up - believe me, I know (I work with grad scholarships). It sounds like she caught herself saying something you might misinterpret as admission, but tried to dampen the blow by saying something encouraging. I've been there.
