oswic Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I emailed a potential advisor to introduce myself as a prospective PhD student, inquire as to whether she will be taking on new students next fall, and briefly explain my research interests. She replied favorably and asked if I was coming to visit, adding that if a visit wasn't feasible then we could speak by telephone or Skype. I replied right away and said I'd like to speak by phone or Skype since I live on the other side of the country. That was a month and a half ago and I haven't heard anything from her since. I want to email her and ask if she is still interested in speaking but I'm afraid I let it go too long. Writing this follow-up email seems more difficult than writing my initial inquiry. Any thoughts?
ktel Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Remember it's just an e-mail. She said she wanted to Skype with you and you haven't yet. Just ask if she's still wanting to discuss this with you, she may have forgotten. It's not as big of a deal as you think!
