themacedonian Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Hello there, I have a guaranteed admission and funding to both PhD programs in engineering in a school in the US and one in New Zealand. Which may be better for future career prospects in the US, Australia/NZ, and Canada regarding both academics and business? I thank you for your reply.
ktel Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Definitely not enough information in your post to give you an informed response. It depends on what school, who your supervisor is, how well known both are, what kind of job you want afterwards, etc.
fluttering Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Are you from US, NZ, or somewhere else? Unless you're from NZ, and/or the NZ university/dept/supervisor is held in much higher esteem than the US equivalent, I'd probably recommend US. On the other hand, you'd get much better food in NZ...
nelafleck Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 ^agreed with what most people have said. However, it is important to take the "international skill set" factor into account, something you'll only get from the school in NZ. Good luck with your decision!
