klkrey2 Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Hello! I am at the point where I contacted professors about joining their program (Entomology), had responses that were positive, and submitted my applications. It has now been a month since I have submitted my applications and talked with these professors. I feel like I should send them a friendly follow up email to let them know I am still interested and thinking about their program, and to keep my name fresh in their mind (In the decision process). Is this a good idea? How would I write this email without sounding cheesy? Any ideas would be much appreciated!! Thanks!
emmm Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 When was/is the deadline for applpications to the program? I know that when I was applying, the applications were all looked at after the deadline, so sending them in early wouldn't have resulted in hearing from them any earlier than sending at the deadline.
emmm Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Hmm ... that is a very different system. In my field, we generally do a year of rotations before deciding on a lab to join. It's just tough in general to get profs to respond to emails. Is it common to try to stay in contact before getting an admissions decision? I would think you'd only want to send email updates if something of significance had occurred that would help your application.
