ayassine08 Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Hi, I am a senior graduating from a liberal arts school in Texas with a double major in Political Science and Economics. My GPA is around a 3.8 and I have recently enjoyed more and more my quantitative courses. I fell in love with my econometrics course this semester -- I aced that and the statistics course I took over the summer. Had i known earlier that I would enjoy/be good at statistics, I would have at least minored in math and taken more quantitative courses. Unfortunately, I do not have many under my belt except my economics classes. Does anyone know about UT's Masters in Statistics program? I want to include in my statement of purpose that I intend on taking linear algebra and calculus 3 the summer before I enroll should I get accepted. I eventually would like to do more economic research (I am working on a thesis right now and realizing how much statistics is a part of my research plan). I've considered a Ph.D. in Economics, but do not have sufficient quantitative background to do that straight out of college. Does anyone have insight into whether a program would look favorably upon me, despite the fact that I don't have as much quantitative training? This is something that has recently sparked passion in me and I intend to take more statistics no matter what, so I figured to go ahead and take a stab at this master's program. Thanks!
