Columbia U. Sending Letters

Hi!

I am applying to the Columbia Univ.(MS Electrical Engr) and I am so worried about the school's recommendation letter.

Does the school send the letter link(request) to professors as soon as I save the contact info?

It seems like sending automatically right after saving, but the school's instruction says "as soon as you complete and submit your application."

Does anyone have a clue?

At least for the Grad School of Arts and Sciences (not sure if EE is included there) they send them as soon as you save, iirc

Thanks but I cannot see whether letters are received or not, right? (until I submit my app)

and I haven't received any email from the university saying that letters from professors are received.

well all of the different apps i've looked at are beginning to blur together, but i'm fairly certain you can. If you go to the recommenders section on the menu, and from there it lets you click on the link to your specific LORs list, it'll show whether they've received notification, have started the app, or have completed it. I make no promises that I'm not, say, thinking about UPenn's app though.

Yes you can look at your Columbia app and see if the recommenders have received the email, if they have started the letter, and when they submitted it. When you log into the app on the left side it says recommendations. Click on that and you should see a list of your letter writers and their status.
