UCLAMFAFILMandART Posted June 26, 2017 Posted June 26, 2017 I realize this is YEARS later from when this was posted, but I wanted to give a little more in site into the facilities at UCSB. I toured every major UC campus facilities for Art. I can honestly say the UCSB and UCSC have HANDS DOWN the best facilities for fine arts as far as public universities go. I chose to go to UCSB for my under graduate degree and I was deeply impressed by the art department and resources. I have my MFA from UCLA in Film and have on many occasions used their fine art facilities and I can hands down tell you its CRAZY over rated! The faculty in higher level classes are fantastic but the intro professors are a joke. One intro to photography class (I took just for access to their CRAZY CRAPPY dark room) the "professor" didn't even know his F/T stop scale. I had to fight with him and prove that 2.0 came after 1.8. PATHETIC!!! The facilities themselves are inadequate, the program is DEEPLY underfunded, and over crowded. Don't be fooled by hype. GO to the facilities. See them for yourself. UCSB is an AMAZING Fine Arts school, under appreciated, and under untilized.
