cokohlik Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I sent an email to the POI of my top choice school with a link to something I found interesting and thought he would too (nothing unusual for me to do)... but ... inside of using my .edu account, I used my gmail account because I forgot to click through to the dropdown menu to select the "From" account. Extra confusing because my .edu account is in my maiden name, and my gmail is in my married name. Oh sob. I literally want to crawl into a hole and never come out and hide my face for. ever. Epic fail. If I'm over reacting, oh dear lord, say something!
cokohlik Posted February 3, 2012 Author Posted February 3, 2012 Lesson: I need more than 2 lattes at 10:30am to be awake and aware of what I'm doing. Pfff.
newms Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 (edited) It'll be ok. If he won't recognize you from your married name, perhaps you can send a follow up from your .edu just explaining that it was you who sent the previous email (perhaps you can even just forward the previous one using your .edu and add a line explaining the mixup). cokohlik Posted February 3, 2012 Author Posted February 3, 2012 Ahhh! That's a good idea. :DI'd like to think he would recognize my married name since I "sign" with it but of course I just put my first name in this one. Thanks for the advice!
complexprocedure Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Yes. Definitely overreacting. Unless your married name is McNazi Puppydrowner. In which case: yikes! runaway and Eggleston 2
