AdityaP Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Hey everyone, I applied to GATech for a Masters in Industrial Engineering (MSIE), and during the admissions process, was recommended (via email) that I swtich to the Masters in Health Systems (MSHS) because my interests were more aligned with that. I decided to swtich, because I got a sense that I was already rejected from the MSIE. Thing is, should I decide to attend MSHS and realize that MSIE is a better fit after taking classes and talking to people, is it easy to swtich out to MSIE? That is to say, would it be a case of just submitting a form to switch my degree, or is there a competitive application process, where they limit the size of the MSIE cohort?
AwesomeAlgorithm Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Q: I have been accepted into the MSIE program but I may find that the MSOR is the better degree for me. Can I switch after I start? Yes. Switching from one degree option to another is not such a big thing. You simply fill out a change of major form (routine) and then start on the requirements for the new option. That was taken from IYSE's Frequently Asked Question page. So I think you can switch to another MS degree once you're in. If you don't mind me asking, when did you hear back from GaTech? I also applied for the MSIE.
