mohohamo Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Hello SLHS/CDS PhD applicants (if there is any?!!!) I wonder how many SLHS/CDS PhD applicants are in the forum! So let's exchange some info about the PhD programs.
SomedaySLP Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I'm applying for my MA, but I've been considering going on for a Ph.D. after I finish and get my CCCs. Have you been working as an SLP? Or are you going straight into a Ph.D. program? What is/are your research interest(s)?

I have an M.A. in Linguistics, but my thesis was on the language acquisition and language breakdown (aphasia). I'm more into on-line sentence processing in aphasia as well as child language development and disorders.
SomedaySLP Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 That sounds very interesting! I have a BA in linguistics (as well as SLHS) and I see we're both from CO, we may have been studying in the same department So at this point you do not have to have a particularly narrow research focus? Part of what deterred me from applying straight to a combined MA/PhD program was that I feel like I have a couple of areas that interest me and I was under the impression to apply for a PhD, I'd need to know exactly what I wanted to study. What programs are you applying to? I came across several that seemed to have great aphasia research going on (that's one of my interest areas as well).

I applied to UMD, U of Arizona, SDSU/UCSD, and CU-Boulder, but NO news so far!
SomedaySLP Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Oops, didn't get a notification for this for some reason. I went to UCBoulder for my undergrad is that where you went for linguistics? Who are you hoping to work with there? Have you received any news yet? I'm so happy March is finally here so we can all start getting results and start making decisions
