Anyone heard from UCSD/Scripps?

Has anyone heard anything from Scripps Institute of Oceanography about Marine Bio? The suspense is killing me!

I applied to Biological Oceanography and got invited to an Open House in early March. I don't know if they've sent out invitations for their other departments yet, and I've heard that they invite fewer people than they let in- so if you don't get invited, that doesn't automatically mean you're rejected (is my understanding, at least). I doubt they'll be sending out acceptances for any departments until after the open house.

Congrats on your invite!

Somewhat ironically, about six hours after I posted this I got an e-mail from my POI. My situation's a bit complicated and I won't be going to the Open House, but I've still got a good shot of getting in.

Boy, this process is confusing...

I was invited to the Open House through the Geoscience department. Do you have any idea how many people they invite to the Open House? I'm assuming not many because they offer to cover all expenses.

Hi! I applied to the Geosciences department for my PhD as well. I was not invited to attend the Open House, but my prospective adviser - with whom I have maintained consistent communication over the past six months - told me not to worry because the Open House spaces are limited, and not every student who is eventually accepted into the program is invited to the event. He also said that no decisions on admissions will be made until after the Open House. So yeah, my experiences are a combination of everyone else's!

So mysterious! I'm going crazy!
