Heather Hoffman Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Okay, um, yikes. I got invited to UC Riverside's Graduate Recuritment Day... where I figure they will do informal interviews to see if they want to accept me and the other applicants on the short list. I just found out that one of the other short list people they invited got an acceptance letter to the program yesterday... and I haven't gotten anything. Not. A. Thing. Am I going to be hanging out and eating lunch with a mix of people who have acceptance letters and people who don't have acceptance letters? Is this a common practice? I've never heard of such a thing. Feeling really down right now. Would really like to know what's going on.
axc Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Not sure if its common practice but an friend applying to a different program at UCR (biosciences) has heard similar word.
Heather Hoffman Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 Ah, your friend is attending a campus visit day where there will be a mix of accepted and non-accepted? That's good to know, honestly. I was worried that they thought I was a freak or something.
lolnumbers Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 visit days that are a mix of people being recruited and people being interviewed are pretty common, at least in engineering.
Heather Hoffman Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012 Ah, good to know. Well, I can honestly say that I'm prepping like mad for this interview, so hopefully it will go well
dcarroll Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Yes very common to have a mix of accepted students and non accepted.
wannabeaphd Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Can I ask when this weekend is? I was unofficially admitted to UCR but not told about this...
Heather Hoffman Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012 It's for a different department, so there won't be Education applicants there. Congrats on your "unofficial" admission! It is an amazing school.
OldGrad2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I will go to interview for UCR as well on Feb. 24. How is the school? Is it a good UC schools compare to the other UC campuses?
Heather Hoffman Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 I'm in Comparative Literature, so I don't have a lot of information about UCR in the sciences. Good luck in your interview!
