PhD Math @ UW Madison

I learnt about my rejection from UW Madison PhD Math when I emailed the secretary about my status. They told me they had just finished sending offers and crap like that but I am sure they could have sent me the rejection at least a week before. Has anybody had the same experience? BTW they have not yet sent me the official rejection (which is supposed to come by email).

I didn't receive my rejection until I had e-mailed the office after having received a couple of e-mails about financial aid.
