I think it's $11.5k unless you have 30+ hours of graduate credit, in which case it's $13k. I'm hoping to hear some details soon.

But did you get that from them or from years past? I just realized the letter says nothing on the matter... (or at least mine doesn't)

There was a very extensive funding email that I received. I'll post the details later when I am on my computer rather than my phone.

I apologize for the delay in response. I was pretty sick and had to go to the ER, but I am doing better now. Below are some of the details from Texas for funding.

The annual details of the funding guaranteed for two years are:

· Qualification for in-state tuition;

· $3,784 of tuition assistance each semester;

· 12-month qualification for faculty/staff health insurance, valued at $426/month;

· A 9-month stipend of $13,154 if you have a bachelor’s degree;

· A 9-month stipend of $14,490 if you have a master’s degree;

· Office space in the department.

The conditions attached to this award are:

· Acceptance of your 20-hour/week teaching assistantship;

· Registering for 9 semester hours each long semester;

· Satisfactory progress in the program, as assessed annually by a faculty financial aid committee that comparatively evaluates all of our students receiving departmental support based on their grades, faculty recommendations, and personal statements.

After your second year in the program you will be eligible for additional sources of support at the University of Texas at Austin, including additional positions as a teaching or research assistant. A number of dissertation fellowships are also available each year from the Department, the Graduate School, and the College of Liberal Arts. Some of our most advanced students are supported as Assistant Instructors teaching their own undergraduate level courses.

According to people that I've talked to, everyone is funded, but everyone hasn't received their letters yet.

I don't know that this is true--I was told that I was not "guaranteed funding" and since there were no funding details in my admit info, I assume this means I'm admitted without any at all.

honestly i dont know how to make of this visiting weekend.. i like the fact that this program seems to be pretty laid-back. but i wasn't sure if this is because all the students we met are those who are just satisfied with this program..

this is a public school in a place where living expenses are relatively low. so i guess the meagernes of funding is acceptable.

after meeting with prof moser i was told that he is looking at around 30-35 students out of 50 something admits. that said, you might still have a good chance to get funded once spots are opened. however, after speaking with some other students who are currently unfunded, the program seems to waste people's time by not telling some admits that they are not funded. some are offered pretty decent pacakages somewhere else.

suggestion to the program: let your admits know whether or not they are funded at the begining. their time can also be very precious.
