I'm having trouble finding information that can compare Binghamton's philosophy grad department to others or about the quality of the department in general. Internet research gives me the impression that Binghamton is not a bad idea, but really only compares it to other SUNYs. If anyone has information or experience with this, input would be greatly appreciated. If it helps, I was looking to study the history of 19th century, mostly German, philosophy.

Amongst the faculty, Zinkin teaches Kant and not much else, Guay is great for Nietzsche/Hegel and he is your best bet if you're looking for 19th century German philosophy. However, the department doesn't seem to be moving any further in the Continental direction. There are other schools that are better w/r/t 19th century German philosophy in terms of departments on the whole, but if you find Guay's work to be your cup of tea then it's a good place.
