Christa Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 No idea if anyone has posted this before but it's hilarious The simpsons on grads TropicalCharlie, MissH and NinjaMermaid 3
jaywalker Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Haha awesome! I saw the second one YEARS ago and I never thought I would find it again (finding a specific Simpsons clip among 23 seasons is LITERALLY finding a needle in a haystack). I never saw the first or last one though...thanks for posting this! So you're already in grad school? Can you attest to the accuracy of the clip?

If you're doing math without a fellowship, imagine your life to resemble the ones from those clips (source: I was a math major and did research with some combinatorics professors/grad students at a top 10 program; the grad students lived like bums). Apply for NSF grants (GRFP, etc.) and hope for the best.

I spent a year teaching/tutoring Calculus for far less than minimum wage while living in a tiny quad inside of a high school. At least this time, i'll have a fancy degree at the end of it. I applied for GRFP, but I doubt i'll be chosen for it. But hope springs eternal!

Always just keep on the lookout for departmental funding and any other options that pop up.
