Jazznalani Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Had anyone applied or been accepted to an MSW program at University of Illinois-Chicago? Does anyone have thoughts on their program or admission process? My application is finally complete after admin finally recovered my transcripts. Geographically this is top choice school. My concentration is Child and Family. Applied: UIC, Smith, Fordham, SFSU, SJSU
MeganParkins Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I applied to UIC. I really want to go there but I've heard they're REALLY slow about giving decisions. Everyone I know who goes/went there love it because of the size and location. I'm from Chicago and the city is great. My application was complete on 2/15 from the school of social work. I graduated with a 3.43.
MeganParkins Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 SO SO SO annoyed with UIC right now. I called on Friday to get an update on my application and they said "Oh dear, we apologize, we never forwarded your application to be reviewed, we understand if you need to go to another school." UIC is one of my first choices. I am so upset, I e-mailed the director of admissions but I'm sure he is too busy to read it and possibly help me out. Has anyone heard anything from them??
lynnylou Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I still haven't heard anything either... I can't believe its almost May!
kmw535 Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 I called on Friday. They said they have 1000 applications and one professor going through them all. I applied in February and haven't hear back yet. I don't know how they plan on getting competitive applicants if it takes three months for them to respond to applications.
Jazznalani Posted May 4, 2012 Author Posted May 4, 2012 I just received an email of admission from the director! Honestly, I was expecting a longer turnaround because of the rumors but I called a few days ago inquiring about my status then was emailed about my admission. I'm waiting to receive my letter and package in the mail. Has anyone else hear back?
