AuntyOwl Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Hello everyone, Like most of you (I am sure), I am still waiting to hear from graduate school(s) application(s) decision(s). I applied for MA in Historical Musicology at UConn. I was invited for an on-campus interview on March 1st but I did not hear from them again. Does any one know how long UConn takes to report their decisions? Thank you all in advance and good luck to everyone who is still in the painful waiting row.
mkeegin Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 I applied to their I/O Psychology PhD program and it's been taking that department forever to get back to people as well. I just found out last week about my wait listed status. Not sure if that necessarily means the entire school has been slower but I know they've had a record number of apps this season [at least for my program].

As selfish as this might sound, at least I am not alone on this stressful waiting. I know that the University had some troubles just to put all applications together because they started with the application online option this year and apparently the system crashed. And that may justify some delays. But since it has been almost a month since I went to the interview... I did you find out about your status?
mkeegin Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 I know! It's been hard to be understanding when it's your future on the line...but nonetheless they let me know last week I'm on their "short list"! A month seems like a long time to go without hearing anything...especially since April 15th is coming up so quickly. I would definitely e-mail your contact person about what the deal is.
michelle15 Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 I've been accepted into their MSW program (West Hartford campus) but it also took a while for them to get back to me. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you both!

A month seems too long for me, really. I am not getting a very good feeling about this... Anyway, I am assuming April 15th is the last day for the applicants reply to their admissions' offers. Is that right? (If you, understandably, are wondering about this question, I am international student. There are a lots of details that I didn't mastered yet so sorry if some of my questions seem dull ). My husband had suggested that I contacted them to ask how was my application but I keep wondering if that is appropriated. Could that be considered rude and play against me?

That's awesome that you're an international student! Yes, the sort of "universal" deadline for all graduate school admissions is April 15th. I don't think it's impolite to ask them about your application at this point. With just a couple of weeks left there is a lot on the line for many people and if you can find out sooner rather than later I think that contacting someone in the program is completely appropriate And congrats michelle15!
AuntyOwl Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 Thanks for your advice, Mkeegin. Best of luck to you.
