fillyglory Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Hey, I've been accepted to UI, PhD in Physical Rehabilitation Science, which is also in the med school. I just accepted my offer last Friday (Apr 6) with questions about the upcoming process but got no reply. What did your PhD coordinator tell you? (I assume we're both in the similar situation since we have to get visas, I'm from China)
ArpitS Posted April 14, 2012 Author Posted April 14, 2012 Hey.....They made me fill another application after my Departmental application. This 2nd application was for the office of graduate admissions. The co-ordinator sais that once the grad admissions office has processed your application, you wil get an I-20. Waiting for dat to happen So, Wat r ur plans regarding housing and stuff ??

The co-ordinator sais that once the grad admissions office has processed your application, you wil get an I-20. Waiting for dat to happen So, Wat r ur plans regarding housing and stuff ?? I got a reply from the coordinator and she just says she's going to reply with more info soon. Still waiting, didn't have me send another application or anything. I thought the online form went straight to the Graduate Admissions Office when I applied though, ISIS have my information and everything. Anyway, I've been looking at housing information on the UI website and thought it would be the safest to apply for a university apartment for the first year, since I don't know the surroundings. I just wrote to 2 PhD students in the lab I'm going to and asked for their advice, guess I'll decide after they reply. Good luck to both of us!
ArpitS Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 Yup...Even I am looking at university housing options....the co-ordinator said she'll mail me housing details in june.....I guess dats too late so I wil have to figure da housing stuff myself.....Good luck to u too
fillyglory Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 One of the PhD students replied today, she said that university apartments are less expensive but don't cover heating/air conditioning, so the electricity bill is probably going to be higher in the winter. Anyway, since the university housing is limited, we should probably apply for both on campus and off-campus at the same time
ArpitS Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 Ya dats what I am thinking....so wat r u looking for ? Single bedroom apartment ?
fillyglory Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Yeah, one-bedroom probably. I just found out that International Admissions "after reviewing my transcripts, it's determined that my degree certificates are needed as well". Ugh! That's gonna take at another month because my old school is so inefficient this way. And Admissions only told me about this because I asked them, can't imagine what might happen if I didn't check my status. Did you send in your degree certificates along with your transcripts?
ArpitS Posted April 18, 2012 Author Posted April 18, 2012 Nope I am still in the process of finishing my masters degree....so I will get my degree certificates once I am done with it. My masters ends in last week of May, so after that I will mail them the final transcript and the degree certificates !
