Has anyone heard from Old Dominion's Ph.D. English program?

I have realized anew that I am an Olympic-class worrier! I think I could check the admission site in the dark, in my sleep, with a fox, in a box, on a train, in the rain, and possibly while eating green eggs and ham (well, maybe not since I don't eat meat...)...ACK!

Thank you for any information!

I am a worrier too, and was okay with the wait until the month of April came and now I am nail biting and checking the website regularly! I heard from the Graduate Director, Dr. Depew, a few weeks ago, asking to clarify my desired status as part-time or full-time because they were getting ready to start the application review process. I am almost positive that was March 14, so I think the acceptances should be coming soon! Good luck to you. Lets hope we meet each other in the fall!

Thank you for your reply and update! I appreciate it!

Maybe we should take turns worrying! My fingernails also are bitten as far as they can be bitten, and the start of April also gave me more reason to worry along with even shorter fingernails! I like all of the different programs they offer, and want to start TODAY! HA but true!!!

I wish you the best, too, and also hope we get to meet in the fall!

If it is not too personal to ask here--and if so, please don't worry about not responding--, would you be in the traditional classrooms there or through the distance option? I would be distance but that's no obstacle to being friends (or learning!), of course! Anyway, GOOD LUCK and if you ever need a break from worrying, let me know and I'll worry for us both for a while!

Thanks again!

I would be in a traditional classroom. My husband is being restationed to Virginia Beach. I've been waiting for this move opportunity to come up because Old Dominion is one of the only English Ph.D programs I really liked that matches up with a potential move. Definitely worrying since I won't have many other opportunities in the near future!

It looks like you might be in Ohio. What area? I am originally from Dayton, OH. I received my undergraduate degree from University of Dayton.

I am sure we will meet up even via distance since it looks like the distance students work pretty closely with the traditional students and with the summer two week seminar.

Trying not to worry this weekend since I have lots of family in town! Good luck doing the same.

Hi!

I hope you got in! I did not, and while I am disappointed because ODU was my first choice for its programs, I am also disappointed in how it went. The committee didn't get my academic writing sample although it was and is on the site with everything else. Grad Admissions compiles it all and gives it to the committee. I sent them a note with the document copied from their site and noted that the document was and is on their site. I asked if I would be reconsidered and was told no, that all decisions are final even though they rejected me based on a "missing" document that was there all along. So I guess I will go to one of the others. The whole thing is upsetting but I really hope you got in and that you have a wonderful experience there! Take care!
